5Works Just Fine!
By Tom Trydon
The bumper cover was a good fit for the 2004 Ford Focus. However, it does not come with any hardware so make sure you keep up with the four principle hardware assembly components and the decorative screws and the push through anchors. There are usually four main attachment points and two of them will need to be accessed from the inside of the rear quarter panel, one on each side. Once you remove the trunk liners they are easy to access. You may have a little trouble with removing the lower attachment point but just be patient it is right above the rear wheel (I did not remove my rear wheels, however if you need to create more space for yourself then remove the rear wheels and support the vehicle with jack-stands, (follow all safety guidelines when supporting the vehicle) removal of the rear wheels are not necessary. There are screw attachments just under the rear license plate (on the sedan model 6 of them) these are held together with screws and plastic anchors. The y are more decoration than anything but are still needed. When removing the screws they may spin freely and not come out, use needle nose pliers and apply a little pressure upwards and you will easily be able to screw them right out. If you cannot save all the screws and plastic anchors for reassembly then purchase a few in advance. You will need to bend the tabs (don't worry they will not break off) on the bottom of the bumper upwards to meet the attachment points underneath the frame just like you removed the old bumper cover, just know that you will need the screws and the push-in plastic anchors. If you take your time it this a very easy fix, you should be done in around an hour. One final note, the main support hardware has a "Lock Tight" material on it so that the bumper will not work itself loose over time. Therefore, you may want to put a drop or two of "Lock Tight" or a similar product on the hardware during final assembly! Not as pretty as the OEM, but it will g ive your Ford Focus a very nice and clean look, my lady thinks I am a genius! You know what? Even though I am a very humble guy, she is right!
